Larry Wilmore: Mainstream Comedy Has No Guts Anymore

Comedy has been the parlance of the Left basically since the 1960s when it started to become uncool to be married and have a bank account. For just about all of his working life, legendary comedian George Carlin served as the guardian of comedy — the pope of the crossroads between irreverence and wisdom.

But, we lost Carlin about as decade ago now. Without his sage guidance, comedy seems to have gone astray — leftist comedy anyway.

Alright, to be fair, it’s probably not Carlin’s fault comedy has gone rotten under the guardianship of the Left. It’s probably more due to the fact that the federal prohibition against propagandizing the American public was abolished by the Obama administration in 2014.

Today, all of the comedy we see coming from the major networks — all of the longstanding late night comedy institutions have become corrupted with political ideology. They are stridently Leftist and feverishly anti-Trump. And strangest of all, they all say the some things every night, night after night. It’s almost like they are being told what to say by an entity that has no interest in comedy as an art form — an entity that is humorless, scolding, and wants to see its opposition bleed.

The marriage between the Left and comedy is on the rocks, and comedy is already seeing someone else.
