If you didn’t get the chance to catch former FBI Director James Comey’s interview with George Stephanopolous on ABC News over the weekend — fret not, you’re just as informed now as you were before he launched his latest cash-grab.
Comey’s interview was billed by ABC as the media event of the century, with the teaser resembling something closer to a preview of an Avengers movie more than a serious piece of news.
So, how did the interview go? Let’s just say it didn’t exactly live up to the hype. Stephanopolous, who’s career in journalism follows his years as a Clinton administration insider and Democratic Party operative, threw one softball question after another, and spent a considerable amount of time simply lamenting 2016’s presidential election result.
Let’s be honest for a second: the release of Comey’s supposed tell-all account is little more than a boon for the fired FBI director’s retirement account. After spending a year out of the job, Comey probably isn’t pinching pennies, but he saw an opportunity and took it.
