It’s Now Officially Impossible to Take Ocasio-Cortez Seriously
The rising star of the Democratic Party, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently complained that Republicans were scared to debate her. In response to this complaint, conservative commentator and debate champion Ben Shapiro released a video politely inviting Ocasio-Cortez to come on his show for a one-hour political debate. To sweeten the offer, he even agreed to donate $10,000 to her campaign or to a charity of her choice if she attended. Ocasio-Cortez’s eventual response to this offer, though was…less than cordial.
Ocasio-Cortez tweeted out her response to Shapiro’s debate request, saying, “Just like catcalling, I don’t owe a response to unsolicited requests from men with bad intentions. And also like catcalling, for some reason they feel entitled to one.”
To compare an offer for political discourse with sexual harassment has got to be one of the most moronic statements that the socialist has made thus far – an accomplishment given her long line of moronic statements in the short time she’s been in the public spotlight. Of course, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez and her campaign staff no-doubt realize that putting her in a one-hour debate with Ben Shapiro would be akin to throwing a lamb into a lion’s cage.
So far, Ocasio-Cortez has struggled mightily to explain and defend her positions even in softball interviews with journalists who want to see her succeed. Putting her in a debate with most any conservative – much less one as gifted at debating as Ben Shapiro – would be a bloodbath.
