Is Jeff Sessions Heading Back to the Senate?

Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions may attempt to retake his old seat as Alabama’s Senator, according to the latest reports.

Sessions, who was effectively fired by the Trump Administration despite being one of the president’s first and most prominent supporters, apparently remains popular among Alabama Republicans, and could theoretically secure an electoral victory fairly easily. The real question, however, is if he will do so with President Trump’s support.

As we all remember, Sessions is not exactly on the best terms with the president. After all, he was fired, or rather “asked to resign”. The relationship between the Alabama conservative and Trump became strained shortly after he took the attorney general position, and recused himself from the “Trump-Russia” investigation.

Even considering all of this, Sessions still seems to be a good political position. He has consistently taken hawkish stances on foreign policy, immigration, and various social issues. These are all winning issues with Alabama voters.
