As tensions between the United States and Iran continue to mount, the possibility of war between the two nations is becoming a growing concern.
In response to threats from the Iranian regime against US forces in the region, the United States recently sent an aircraft carrier and bomber group to the waters outside Iran. Now, the Iranian regime is responding by threatening war against the US and our allies in the Middle East.
Thanks to President Donald Trump’s “maximum pressure” policy against Iran, war is one of the only options for survival that the regime has left. Under the Obama administration and the failed Iran nuclear deal, Iran was able to continue with their ballistic missile program, continue sponsoring terrorist activity in the Middle East, and even continue elements of their nuclear program. Now, though, the Iranian economy has been crippled by sanctions, and their hostile actions are no longer being tolerated. If the Iranian regime hopes to survive the Trump administration, they must either abandon their hostilities or go to war.
Of course, war with the United States would almost certainly likewise mark the end of the Iranian regime. At this point, though, there aren’t many better options left for them to choose from.
