How to Counter These Common Liberal Lies About Gun Control
Next time you’re talking about gun control with anyone of a liberal viewpoint, it’s highly likely that they’ll deploy at least one of the arguments below.
You’ll think you’ve heard them before, and you have. But mere repetition doesn’t make them true.
So, thanks to Liz Wheeler of the One America News Network (OAN) for neatly summarizing these liberal claims, and showing how you can easily refute them.
Claim 1: President Trump has made it easier for mentally disturbed people to get guns
Fact – the President merely acted to prevent a Federal Agency unconstitutionally denying people their 2nd Amendment rights.
Claim 2: The NRA campaigns against so-called red flag laws
Fact – the NRA has argued against some restraining orders which have been used by law enforcement officials to confiscate weapons without due process. In Oregon, for example, a person may have their gun removed without any opportunity to present evidence on their behalf to a court.
Claim 3: Republicans don’t want to stop terrorists getting guns
Fact – anyone duly convicted of a terrorist offence is already banned from buying a gun. But to widen this ban to include people on a “no fly” list would extend it to people who may have committed no crime, and who are not even permitted to know why they are on the list.
The common factor in all three cases, says Wheeler, is liberals’ contempt for both the truth and the due process of law.
The video is only a few minutes long, but it will arm you with some of the key facts you need for the fightback.
