How the Left Justifies Violence Against Speech

One of the more dangerous ideas to come out of the progressive left is the idea that some speech is equivalent to violence. Not only does this idea run counter to the freedom we are granted in the First Amendment, it also justifies the idea of meeting speech with actual, physical violence. More and more, those on the far left have been meeting speech with real violence and justifying their actions as they do.

When you equate speech with a real act of violence, it becomes justifiable to respond to that “violence” with violence of your own. Many on the left have been conditioned to believe that certain speech is a threat to their physical safety and therefore an act of violence that must be countered. Interestingly enough, though, those on the left seem to always choose to counter violent speech with physical violence rather than countering it with their own words and speech.

It is how the left views speech, therefore, that is the root of the problem. If you believe that some speech is violent and unacceptable, dangerous issues arise. This is how the left justifies using violence against speech as well as how they justify arguing for the removal of the First Amendment.
