Democrats in the media have been quick to slam President Donald Trump for congratulating Russian President Vladimir Putin on his re-election, but seem quick to forget one of their greatest icons did exactly the same thing.
It is definitely in our best interests as conservatives to align ourselves behind our chief executive. However, we cannot overlook the fact that Vladimir Putin is one of the most diabolical and powerful heads of state in the world. Russia is perhaps the only nuclear power that can pose a legitimate threat to the hegemony of the United States.
Opinions may be divided on Russia, but one thing is clear – we have to get along with them in order to keep our efforts over here moving forward. Pres. Trump promised to focus most of his attention on domestic issues, and so far he has made good on this promise. Democrats continue to pound at the only pseudo-issue they can find – business interests of the president and his family over in Russia.
No matter how we as a nation choose to deal with Russia, we must not fall into the leftist narrative of using that country as a scapegoat. Democrats say “Russia” every time they don’t have an answer for conservatives. Let us not return the favor.
