For those unfamiliar with Comedy Central’s adult animated program South Park, we’ll fill you in: the entire point of the show is to offend as many people as possible, and that’s been the case for about 20 years now.
Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are self-identified libertarians, and they’ve never been afraid to make fun of, well, anyone…
As with just about any comedy show airing in America today, this includes plenty of right-wing figures and causes. Unlike virtually all of its contemporaries, South Park takes plenty of jabs in the other direction as well. Among its targets are climate change fanatics, social justice warriors of all types, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, and — honestly, name a famous person, and the chances are that Parker and Stone have brutally mocked them at some point.
Well, social justice warriors are never really fond of receiving the same treatment that conservative Christians do on every other comedy show, so it’s no surprise that they are in full outrage mode after one of the newest episodes took shots at trans-female athletes
We’ve seen the drama (and damage) this phenomenon has caused in real life, and South Park brings the point home.
Here’s just a sample.
