Has the Political Left Always Been This Violent?

In case you haven’t noticed, the left has a bit of a problem with violence. If you ask us, we think it’s about time middle America applied for a restraining order against the bike lock wielding loonies in New York and California.

But…is this really a new thing?

In 1906, the Union Movement used dynamite to terrorize politicians. In 1910, Unions bombed the headquarters of John McNamara. In 1919, Anarchists started a bombing campaign. In 1920, anti-capitalists bombed Wall Street.

See a pattern here?

Between 1901 and 1975, the left assassinated President William McKinley, Idaho Governor Frank Steunenberg, Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak, New York, Mayor Louis F. Edwards, President John F. Kennedy (Oswald was a Marxist), Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford.

Where’s Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner when you need him?

Today, the violence has escalated as the left attempts to “no platform” conservative speakers like Milo Yiannopoulos and Ann Coulter when they attempt to give a lecture.

They hunt down people in red hats and kidnap mentally handicapped men in the name of resisting Trump. We have Antifa members all over the country attacking train cars and calling for all-out civil war.

How can they do it? How can these supposedly caring, moral, tolerant people actively seek the blood of those who disagree with them politically? That’s a question for another time. But for now Reason TV asks the question, is it okay to punch a Nazi?

Well, maybe. Nazi’s are intolerable. We went to war with them. But while Reason TV asks that question, we ask you, is it okay to punch a Leninist, a Stalinist, a Maoist? Maybe.
