Gay Conservative: ‘My Sexuality Doesn’t Define Me’
In a liberal’s ideal world, the only people who vote conservative are straight, white, men. Of course, reality isn’t quite so black and white, as both conservatism and liberalism alike enjoy support across the spectrums of race, gender, and sexual orientation.
Guy Benson is a well-known conservative author and commentator. He also happens to be gay. In a video he put together for PragerU, Benson breaks down why his sexuality is merely a footnote and not something that automatically defines his political ideology.
However, for a group that fancies themselves the most tolerant individuals in human history, the left really does not like people such as Guy Benson. In fact, anyone who is gay, or black, or an immigrant, and is also a conservative, is labeled by the left as a traitor to their cause.
Though frustratingly effective at winning votes (which is why it has become so prevalent), this kind of identity politics is dangerous and offers no value to a nation that needs to start working together rather than separating off into groups defined by every characteristic imaginable.
To hear Guy Benson talk more about the dangers of identity politics and why he refuses to let such an ideology define how he votes, be sure to check out the video below.
