The last six years or so have been one heck of a revelation for so many people. The change, ephemeral as it may be, has resulted in a truly massive exodus from the Democratic party.
If you wanted to simplify the phenomenon which has been typified by the hemorrhaging of adherents from the Democratic Party, you could attribute it to the harsh narrowing of what it means to be a Democrat. Previously, being a “liberal” simply meant that one believes in the dignity of the individual and wishes to preserve it against the vicissitude of hierarchies of merit.
Alright, we know not too many people would define themselves that way, but that’s not important. What is important is the fact that something caused the Democratic Party to rapidly constrict like a colon that was suddenly introduced to a massive dose of diuretic.
Massive amounts of otherwise liberal people no longer have a home with radical progressive Democratic Party. They have migrated to the Republican Party, the Libertarian Party, and elsewhere — anywhere but the uncompromising, racist, browbeating arena of people like Maxine Waters, Nanci Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer.
What we have seen is that people like the politicians mentioned above have become like broken toys, performing the same cartoonified actions no matter what good sense would seem to call for.
The result is the #WalkAway movement, which CNN is predictably calling a Russian bot maneuver. People are coming out with stories of political transformation.
