The Valentine’s Day shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland has stirred a lot of debate. On February 26, Tucker Carlson interviewed Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran about a letter many Republican lawmakers sent to Governor Rick Scott. In this letter, more than 70 Florida legislators called for an investigation of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel.
Condemning the sheriff for conduct that reaches the “height of arrogance,” Corcoran and his colleagues expect the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to investigate the department’s actions. These lawmakers are not playing politics: They expect corrective actions and rightfully demand that the sheriff face suspension or removal if his missteps amounted to malfeasance or misfeasance.
Members of the liberal media deflect from the failures of the school administration, sheriff, and FBI to respond to obvious signs of trouble. Instead, these outlets have once again launched an attack on the Second Amendment. Speaker Corcoran’s comments with Tucker Carlson are reassuring.
Corcoran and other lawmakers want an investigation that will answer important questions: Why did the Broward County school resource officer act like a coward and fail to do his job? How can this deputy abandon his duties and still get a generous pension from the Florida Retirement System? Did other deputies also hide outside? Why has Sheriff Israel spent more time in the media spotlight trying to further his political career instead of asking an outside agency, such as FDLE, to investigate what went wrong?
These questions demand answers. Watch the video below to learn more.
