Even Obama Thinks the Democratic Party is Too Far Left

For the eight years that he was President, Barack Obama played a major role in pushing the Democratic Party further to the left. Now that he is forced to sit and watch from the sidelines, though, Obama is apparently growing concerned about the impact of the movement that he helped start.

In a recent speech, Obama issued a stern warning to the Democratic Party about its lack of unity heading into the 2020 election. This division is born out of the ongoing battle between the far-left progressive wing of the party led by new faces such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders, and the more moderate “old guard” of the party, led by longtime politicians such as Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

The result of the battle between these two factions of the Democratic Party is certainly cause for concern for those who hope to see the party succeed. In his warning to the party, Obama talked about a “circular firing squad”, warning that the party would destroy itself if it continued to ramp up the internal war that is currently waging. If things continue down the current path, President Trump may be able to sit back in 2020 and watch as his competitors destroy themselves one by one.
