Elizabeth Warren Addresses her Claim that she is Native American
Ever since President Donald Trump first took aim at Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren during the 2016 election, the progressive icon has faced harsh criticism from both sides of the aisle over her head-scratching claim that she is Native American.
By and large, Warren has tried to ignore this controversy. In fact, she even doubled down on her claim by taking the time to speak before various Indian tribes and pushing for pro-Native American policies in the Senate. Now that even liberal media outlets have called her claim into question, though, Sen. Warren has been forced to address the controversy.
She’s done so by cooperating with a media investigation that looked into whether or not her supposed ethnicity played a role in helping her secure a position at Harvard University – a common rebuke among those who take issue with Warren’s claim. The investigation found that Warren listing herself as Native American did not play a role in Harvard’s hiring decision, but that still doesn’t address the real issue.
The real issue is that Warren continues to claim an ethnicity that she is clearly not in order to benefit from the identity politics that her party created. Whether or not this claim actually helped her secure a position at Harvard or not is a non-issue – the problem is that Warren continues to claim Native American heritage with zero evidence while at the same time refusing to take a DNA test that would settle the matter once and for all.
