Economist George Gilder Explains How Capitalism Always Wins
Over the past few years, America has been dragged into a debate that many hoped we would never have to face – a debate over whether capitalism or socialism is best for the future of this country.
Not too long ago, the choice was obvious. The consistent failure of socialist countries was all that Americans needed to know that socialism was a threat rather than a path forward. Today, though, many on the left are starting to embrace socialism with open arms, forcing us to take this economic system seriously for the first time in American history.
Since the growing popularity of socialism means that it can no longer be ignored, it’s time to start taking an honest look at how socialism stacks up to capitalism. There are plenty of moral arguments against socialism, but the economic merits and drawbacks of socialism are what is most important for us to consider. When you look at these economic merits and drawbacks as a whole, the conclusion is both obvious and frightening – socialism leads only to poverty and destruction.
In an effort to artificially make everyone in a nation equal, socialism succeeds only in making everyone equally poor. Except, of course, for the politicians who siphon off portions of the taxpayer money that socialism brings in floods.
Don’t take it from us, though; to hear an economist discuss just how poorly socialism stacks up against capitalism, be sure to check out the video below.
