This might be the most courageous thing we’ve seen from a Democrat in literally years.
New Jersey Representative Jeff Van Drew, a Democrat in Congress, went on Fox Business to say that he does not believe there is any evidence to support removing President Donald Trump from office at this time. Rep. Van Drew went on to say that he will wait for new information that we don’t already know to come forward, but until then will vote “no” on moving the impeachment process forward.
Obviously, this isn’t a popular position for a Democrat in Congress to take right now, but it isn’t surprising either. Remember: many Democrats including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not support impeachment at first. Not only did they fail to see any substantiating evidence, but there’s little doubt that Pelosi and other Democratic Party leaders understood the political blowback that is sure to follow.
At this point, the party is being run on the whims of its most ideological members. History isn’g going to be too kind to this era of the Democratic Party, and it seems like many of its members are starting to recognize that.
Here’s Tim Pool with more on the story.
