DACA Recipient Urges Congress to Build the Wall
As the Democrat-controlled House continues to fight President Trump on funding for the border wall, all of our nation’s many immigration issues remain unsolved. In addition to the issue of illegal immigrants flooding through the southern border, another issue for which there is still no solution is the issue of DACA recipients and their citizenship.
President Trump has mentioned numerous times that he would be willing to grant citizenship to DACA recipients. The only reason he let the program expire in the first place was to give Congress a chance to develop a permanent solution rather than continue forward with the temporary, arguably-illegal solution that Obama put in place. However, Trump is not willing to sign off on a bill that grants DACA recipients citizenship unless Democrats are willing to compromise and go along with a solution to stop our illegal immigration crisis as well.
Appearing on Fox News, one DACA recipient urged Democratic leaders to make that compromise. It would be an enormous win for the nation — productive, skilled immigrants would be granted permanent citizenship while illegal immigrants would be stopped from entering the country.
Of course, opposing President Trump is a far more important goal for the Democrats than fixing our immigration problems, and compromise of any kind does not help them reach that goal.
