The culture war in the west has been going on for decades — maybe longer. But the problematic fires really hit the progressive fan around 2012, and the frog water started boiling around the year 2014. It was around that time when YouTube personality Sargon of Akkad rose to prominence.
Otherwise known by his given name Carl Benjamin, Mr. Akkad started out on YouTube talking about video games. But he became a sort of underground firebrand when he got involved with the Gamergate saga in which carpet-rotting fish wives tried to take all of the fun out of video games by insulting the people who play them. Benjamin, being a relatively humble gent, didn’t like the idea of low-level academics taking over the gaming review magazines he and his ilk rely on for accurate product reviews. So he began criticizing the man-hating, censor-crazy feminists for the poverty of their arguments and for the hatred and poor work habits which they so prominently display.
For reference, those on the Gamer side of gamergate are the first group in western history to successfully resist the shame and replace tactics of marauding feminists. Some believe that they even set the stage for the rise of the MAGA movement.
Obviously, Benjamin has been maligned as a racist, a sexist, and every other ist the human mouth can form. And now he’s been shut down by Patreon for something he said rhetorically months ago on someone else’s channel.
