China Wants a Trade Deal with U.S. Even More Than Trump Does
The escalating trade war between the United States and China may be finally coming to a head, as the Chinese government is now signaling a serious willingness to cease hostilities.
According to President Donald Trump, the communist nation is more desperate for a trade deal than he is. If that’s true, the historic trade war may be closer to ending than most people think.
It’s important to put this all into context. President Trump’s critics are fond of reporting that he “started” a trade war with China. A more accurate way of putting this is that Trump simply responded to an existing trade war that began in Beijing, not Washington. In other words, Trump is the first president to actually acknowledge a conflict.
This is hardly “starting” a war of any kind. That would be like getting mad and someone for cursing at you when you’ve been punching them in the neck for ten minutes.
