Ben Stein Speaks Out on Being a Conservative in Hollywood
Ben Stein, the finance wonk and film actor perhaps best known for his role in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, recently sounded off on how being an open conservative can quickly end an actor’s career.
Speaking with Newsmax TV’s Wayne Allyn Root, Stein discussed his personal experiences with living in Hollywood before and after his political beliefs came to light.
“I’ve repeatedly been sort of dumped on,” he said. “It’s not easy. I mean, it’s not like being a Marine and landing in [war zones]. But in terms of creative work, they definitely make it hard for me. I’ve suffered through [it].”
Stein went on to take a humble note, saying he recognizes his “suffering” isn’t the same as individuals who have served on the battlefield. However, he also stated that the difficulties he faced as a conservative looking for work in a very liberal field cannot be ignored.
“It’s tough being conservative in Hollywood,” he went on. “Nobody really wants you.”
