Ben Shapiro Busts the Left’s Biggest Myth About Abortion

So, you may have heard about this book called Freakonomics. It’s an interesting read for what it’s worth, and highlights unusual relationships between various sets of data.

Leftists love to focus on one particular correlation, which is the drop in crime with the rise of abortion. The suggestion is that liberals are saving the world by slaughtering their babies in the womb.

If you didn’t know anything about statistics — or abortion — it’s easy to see how an argument like this would be compelling. And there’s a moral question underneath all of this as well — you want the crime rate to go down, don’t you? Why shouldn’t you support abortion to achieve this goal?

The problem with this is that, when you take a broader look at the data, you find out that the crime rate took a very long time to drop — and Roe v. Wade really had nothing to do with it. Believe it or not, mass murder doesn’t actually prevent future crime.
