AOC Wants to Eliminate Department of Homeland Security

Since 2002, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been responsible for protecting the United States against both foreign and domestic threats. Following the 9/11 attacks, the need for a department designed to counter the growing threat of terrorism on the homefront became incredibly apparent.

Today, the role that DHS plays is just as vital as it was over a decade ago. According to congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, though, DHS should be eliminated entirely.

It isn’t DHS as a whole that Ocasio-Cortez seems to have a problem with; rather, it’s one branch — ICE. As someone in favor of open borders, Ocasio-Cortez and her progressive allies are very opposed to ICE, and the work they do to secure our borders. Rather than targeting ICE directly, though, Ocasio-Cortez wants to throw the baby out with the bathwater and eliminate DHS entirely.

Like so many progressives, Ocasio-Cortez lives in a fairytale world where there is no need to protect our nation from foreign threats. Her desire to eliminate the agency responsible for countering terrorism on the homefront shows just how delusional she really is.
