Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Has Lost Her Star Power

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may not have been in the news as much as she once was in recent months. That’s because America is tired of her puerile hand wringing. But, she is still having an effect on current events, and we would be remiss to forget that.

Remember, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was reluctant to push forward with all this impeachment jazz. But after AOC and her friends said publicly that she wanted the efforts to impeach Trump to go forward, Pelosi changed her tune.

It’s almost as is the top Dems see AOC as some kind of weather vane. The prevailing take on this is that they believe AOC has the hearts and minds of the vast majority of the Democrat support base. Therefore, they believe that to defy AOC, is to risk alienating the base. With all of the longstanding Democrat support bleeding away, particularly among black voters, they know they can’t afford to lose the AOC crowd.

Here’s a bit of a flashback to mid 2019. At the time, AOC was saying that the low numbers on an AOC-likability poll were somehow… you guessed it, sexist. To the tin ears of the DNC, that’s a sticky charge, and they don’t want to be hit by it.

To understand what the top Dems are doing now- at least in terms of tone, take a listen to this Tucker clip from last year.
