Ever since the Mueller investigation began, House Intel Chairman Adam Schiff has been leading the Democratic charge against President Trump, insisting that he is guilty of colluding with Russia in order to win the 2016 election. Now that the Mueller investigation has reached its conclusion – a conclusion that exonerated the President of all of the charges that Democrats hoped to bring against him – Schiff has been forced to retreat back into a state of denial.
After the Mueller report was released, Schiff appeared on ABC News to insist that there was still significant evidence of collusion. What evidence he is referring to is anyone’s guess, given that the Mueller report outlined zero evidence of collusion, but Schiff is still holding strong to his position.
That position will likely be used by House Democrats to justify even more costly and divisive Congressional investigations into President Trump, likely for the duration of his presidency. For two years now, Schiff and other Democrats have been clinging to the Mueller investigation as their sole source of hope for removing Trump from office, and they aren’t ready to let go of that hope just yet.
