A Reminder That the Left Has NO Interest in Civility Anymore

Before the 2018 midterm elections, Hillary Clinton famously said that “you cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about”. She went on to explain that if Democrats were able to win back the House and/or the Senate then the party could start being civil again.

Of course, Democrats were able to win back the House in that election. However, the Democratic Party has still not yet returned to civility. In fact, civility doesn’t seem to be anywhere on the horizon for those on the left.

Clinton isn’t the only prominent Democrat to opine on how the left can no longer be civil. She’s also joined by Rep. Maxine Waters, who called for the public harassment of Trump Administration officials as well as numerous other Democrats who have hinted at the fact that civility is no longer on the table.

The problem is that the left no longer views those on the right as just being political opponents. Instead, the left has come to view anyone who disagrees with them as vile deplorables who have no right to speak and who deserve to be treated with hate and disrespect. So long as Democratic politicians hold to this view, the left will never be civil again.
